Blue Genes - It's Still Life
ArtSpace Chicago
March 1 - 22, 2024
Blue Genes — It’s Still Life explores the uncertainty, vulnerability, alienation, and resilience that can accompany a life-changing genetic diagnosis.
Following Ashley Baranczyk’s discovery of a BRCA1 gene mutation in 2022, the exhibition considers the complicated relationship between genetics, identity, and the body. Through photography and constructed imagery, Baranczyk transforms an intensely personal experience into an exploration of selfhood, uncertainty, and the desire to find connection within circumstances that cannot be controlled.

Does the Art Excuse the Accused?
Columbia College Chicago Student Center / The Hokin Gallery
Apr 8 – May 14, 2021
Does the Art Excuse the Accused? Consuming Culture in the #MeToo Era examines the complicated relationship between artistic achievement and the actions of the people who create it.
The exhibition asks what it means to continue engaging with artists whose work has become inseparable from allegations of abuse and misconduct. Bringing together contemporary artists who challenge traditional representations of gender and power, the exhibition considers the responsibilities of artists, institutions, and audiences in determining what—and who—we choose to celebrate.
The exhibition was featured in the Chicago Sun-Times and the Columbia Chronicle.

Go Down Moses presents a reinterpretation of the Museum of Contemporary Photography’s permanent collection as a visual reflection on contemporary America.
Drawing from the photographic archive, the exhibition brings together images that speak to movement, chaos, freedom, and hope. By placing photographs from different moments in conversation with one another, the exhibition considers how the archive can become a way of understanding both the past and the psychological landscape of the present.

Setting the Stage: Objects of the Chicago Theatre
The Design Museum of Chicago
June 29 – Jan 5, 2019
Setting the Stage: Objects of the Chicago Theatre examines the role of design in shaping theatrical experiences. Bringing together objects from theatres throughout Chicago, the exhibition reveals the many forms that theatrical design can take—from costumes and lighting to sound, props, and scenery.
Rather than treating these objects as isolated artifacts, the exhibition places them within the collaborative process of transforming an idea into a performance.
